The Government of Pakistan has officially announced its intention to recommend U.S. President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his significant diplomatic role in de-escalating the recent crisis between Pakistan and India.

In an official statement, Pakistan strongly condemned India’s “unprovoked aggression”, labelling it a grave violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty. The incident tragically resulted in the deaths of several innocent civilians, including women and children.

In response, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, which authorities described as a carefully measured and precise military action aimed solely at defending national borders while minimising the risk of civilian harm.

As the conflict risked further escalation, Trump’s timely diplomatic engagement with both nations was praised for helping to broker a ceasefire. Pakistani officials called his involvement a “major breakthrough for regional peace”.

The statement further highlighted Trump’s past willingness to mediate the long-standing Kashmir issue, reiterating that sustainable peace in South Asia cannot be achieved without decisive action from the United Nations on the Kashmir conflict.
